DigiGirlz is an initiative by Microsoft to get more school-aged girls excited about the world of technology. When I worked at Microsoft years ago, the program was just getting off the ground, and I’m happy to say that the program has now come to St. Louis. Even better, we don’t just get a DigiGirlz day, the city gets to host a 2 day DigiGirlz “high tech camp“.

A description of the event says “During the camp session, the girls listen to executive speakers, participate in technology tours and demonstrations, network, and learn through hands-on experience in workshops.” I’m planning on attending the event to serve on one of the executive panels for the girls.

This year’s DigiGirlz event is taking place on August 5, 2014, at the St. Louis Science Center. If you are interested in helping out, contact me, or if you have a school-aged girl who would be interested in this type of event, you can register at https://www.eiseverywhere.com/ehome/80452.
